How To Play Kabaddi: Dummies Guide

Kabaddi for Dummies:

  1. Equipment: Kabaddi requires a playing field, a line marking the boundary, and a wooden or plastic board to keep score.
  2. The teams: Kabaddi is played by two teams of seven players each. Each team has a raider, who is responsible for entering the opposing team’s half of the field and “tagging” as many of their players as possible before returning to their own half of the field.
  3. The objective: The objective of Kabaddi is for the raider to enter the opposing team’s half of the field and “tag” as many of their players as possible before returning to their own half of the field.
  4. Starting the game: The team that wins the coin toss or draw gets the first raid.
  5. Scoring: Points are scored when the raider successfully tags an opposing player, or when the opposing team is unable to stop the raider from returning to their own half of the field.
  6. Tackling: Players on the opposing team, called “defenders,” try to stop the raider by tackling them before they can return to their own half of the field.
  7. Penalties: Penalties are awarded for various infractions such as going out of bounds, taking too long to raid, or not crossing the midline.
  8. Game format: Kabaddi is usually played in two halves of 20 minutes each.
  9. Substitutions: Substitutions can be made during a timeout or when a player is injured.
  10. Winning: The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.
