Tennis for Dummies:
- Find a partner: Tennis is played with two people on a court, either singles or doubles.
- Choose your racket: A racket is used to hit the ball, make sure you choose the right size and weight for your level and style of play.
- Start the game: A coin toss or spin of the racket will determine who serves first. The server starts the point by hitting the ball over the net and into the opponent’s side of the court.
- Take turns: Players take turns hitting the ball back and forth over the net, trying to hit it into the opponent’s side of the court in a way that the opponent cannot return it.
- Scoring: Points are scored when the opponent is unable to return the ball or hits it out of bounds. The first player to reach four points and be ahead by at least two points wins the game.
- Continue playing: The game is played in sets, the first player to win six games and be ahead by at least two games wins the set. A match is typically played as the best of three or five sets.
