Rules Of Netball

Netball is a sport that is played by people of all ages and skill levels around the world. It is similar to basketball but with some key differences, including the fact that players are not allowed to run with the ball and there are different positions with specific responsibilities. Here is a list of the basic rules of netball:

  1. The game is played on a rectangular court that measures 30.5m x 15.25m.
  2. Each team consists of seven players, with specific positions including goal shooter, goal attack, wing attack, center, wing defense, goal defense, and goal keeper.
  3. The objective of the game is to score more goals than the opposing team by throwing the ball into a 3m high hoop.
  4. The game begins with a center pass, where the ball is thrown up between two center players.
  5. Players are not allowed to run with the ball, and must pass it to a teammate within three seconds of receiving it.
  6. Players are also not allowed to take more than two steps without bouncing the ball.
  7. A player in possession of the ball must not touch the ball with their foot.
  8. Players can only be in certain positions on the court depending on their designated position, and they are not allowed to move out of that area.
  9. The game is divided into four 15-minute quarters, with a two-minute break between the first and second quarters, and a five-minute half-time break.
  10. The team with the most goals at the end of the game is declared the winner.
  11. If the game is tied, extra time can be played to determine the winner.
  12. There are various types of fouls in netball, and if a player commits a foul, the opposing team is awarded a free pass from the spot where the foul occurred.
