Snooker for Dummies:
- Set up the table: Snooker is played on a large, rectangular table with six pockets. Make sure the table is level and the pockets are properly aligned.
- Choose your cue: Snooker cues are typically longer and thinner than pool cues, and are used to strike the white cue ball.
- Rack the balls: The colored balls, or “object balls,” are racked in a triangle shape at the head of the table, with the red ball in the middle. The white cue ball is placed in the “D” at the foot of the table.
- Break the balls: The player who breaks the balls will strike the white cue ball with their cue, attempting to pot (or sink) one of the colored balls.
- Take turns: Players take turns striking the cue ball, trying to pot the colored balls. Points are scored for each ball that is potted, with red balls worth one point and colored balls worth different points depending on their color.
- Continue playing: The player who pots the last colored ball must then attempt to pot the black ball, which is worth seven points. The player with the most points at the end of the game is the winner.
